Municipal Court Warrants in Putnam County
Putnam County's four incorporated cities keep separate citation and court paths. A missed city-court setting or unsatisfied local ticket can create an FTA question with that court. The county sheriff does not publish a public list that brings all four city dockets together.
Call the city court or recorder first. If the city says the matter moved to county service, call PCSO Warrants at option 4. County court records and city payment links answer different questions.
Putnam County Has Four City Court Contacts
Cookeville holds court at its police headquarters; Baxter routes the monthly docket through the City Recorder; Monterey meets at City Hall; Algood lists a City Court Clerk but publishes few current process details.
The AOC clerk directory and each city page supply the contact route. No municipal warrant portal or public city roster was located for any of the four.
Which Putnam County Cities Have Municipal Courts
Putnam research identifies four city courts. The table points to the first office for each local citation; city staff can say whether an FTA or payment issue is still in that venue.
| City | Court | What It Handles |
|---|---|---|
| Cookeville | Cookeville City Court | City traffic and municipal citations; clerk (931) 520-5254 |
| Algood | Algood City Court | City court record; clerk directory lists (931) 537-9545 |
| Baxter | Baxter City Court | Monthly traffic and code docket; recorder ext. 1 |
| Monterey | Monterey City Court | Monthly city citations and delinquent fines; (678) 359-2783 payment line |
Putnam County Cookeville Court Sits at Police HQ
Cookeville City Court shares the 1019 Neal Street police-headquarters address. It meets twice each month at 5 p.m. Tuesday. The citation gives the appearance date, and eligible nonappearance payment is due before 4 p.m. that day.
The court lists a payment plan request on the court date and a possible continuance when called in advance. If an FTA already exists, call the clerk instead of treating an online payment as a recall.
Its official City Court page gives the local deadline and process.
How to Check a Municipal Court Warrant
Use the city citation, case number, and appearance date to find the right clerk. Putnam's county online portal can search a case or party by court and case type, but it is not a complete municipal warrant index.
- Read the citation for the city, case number, and court date.
- Call that city's court clerk or recorder to ask whether the ticket has an FTA or warrant.
- Use Putnam's case search and dated dockets as supporting clues, not as a city warrant certificate.
- If the city says county service is involved, call PCSO Warrants at (931) 528-8484, option 4.
Putnam County Baxter Recorder Keeps the Docket
Baxter City Court meets once a month for traffic and code cases. The City Recorder is also the court clerk, keeps the official docket, and receives payments at 200 Main Street. The public site links “Miscellaneous Receipts” for tickets, but it does not show warrant status.
Ask the recorder whether the case needs a new appearance, payment, or court-approved plan. The official Baxter recorder page explains this local role.

The monthly court image shows the city docket path rather than a searchable warrant list.
What a Municipal Court Warrant Shows
No city publishes a standard Putnam municipal-warrant result card. A docket or citation may identify the venue and case, while payment pages may only accept a citation transaction.
| Citation / case | Use the number printed on the city notice; no shared city format was found. |
|---|---|
| Charge | Traffic, code, ordinance, or another local matter as shown by the court. |
| Issuing court | Cookeville, Algood, Baxter, or Monterey City Court. |
| Payment | A vendor receipt shows a transaction, not necessarily an FTA recall. |
| Status | Ask the issuing clerk whether the warrant is active, recalled, served, or closed. |
Putnam County Monterey Uses a Monthly Court Calendar
Monterey City Court meets the third Monday at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, shifting to Tuesday when a holiday falls on the regular date. The city posts annual dates and separates current citation payments from delinquent-fine notices.
A person with a collection notice should use the specific route on that notice and call the court before assuming a warrant was cleared. The court page lists a payment phone, but no public name-search field.
See Monterey's court schedule and citation FAQ for its own process.
Resolving a Municipal Court Warrant
The issuing city decides whether a ticket may still be paid, needs a court appearance, or requires another order. Putnam has no shared municipal-warrant recall form or citywide payment portal. Confirm the status with the clerk after any payment or hearing.
- Call the city court listed on the citation and ask for current case and FTA status.
- Ask whether the court requires payment, a new date, a motion, or counsel's help.
- Use only the payment route the court confirms for that citation.
- Get a receipt or order, then call back to confirm the warrant record changed.
Warning: A city payment vendor is not the issuing court; confirm directly whether the FTA or warrant was recalled and whether another court date remains.
Cookeville, Baxter, and Monterey publish different payment details; Algood's public pages do not set out a city court payment or recall process. The county does not publish a single municipal bond schedule.
For the court's broader county context and traffic citation steps, see the Putnam traffic warrant reference.
Algood Has No Warrant Portal
Algood's Police Department page gives a contact form and phone, while the AOC directory lists a City Court Clerk at 215 W. Main Street. No current schedule, payment page, FTA instruction, or recall form was located.
Call the city clerk with the citation number and ask whether the case remains local. If the case is in county records, use the Circuit Clerk or PCSO Warrants Division. Do not copy another city's process.
The city court's existence is supported by the Tennessee AOC clerk directory; it does not expose warrant-search fields.
